The Goo Goo Dolls have been writing great music for longer than I have been alive (literally) With Classics like Black Balloon, Slide and the massive Iris the guys put on an excellent and surprisingly down to earth show letting their music do the talking. Their will soon be a larger live review at Clink so I will link that but in the meantime check out there new CD it shows that even after a band has been going for years if they have great songwriting talent they will still produce gem after gem.

Unkle Bob were the Goo Goo Dolls show at the Birmingham Academy on the 11th November. Mixing sounds of bands like Belle and Sebastian and Radiohead they have a mellow sound, with great vocal harmonies putting on a tight set. A larger review will soon be listed on Clink.

Less Than Jake have long been the leading the way in the current Ska scene and theres good reason why, they merge their sound and stage antics with that of pop punk resulting in a fun show full of energy that is impossible not to dance to. From start to finish the crowd was jumping skanking and singing along its the kind of show that you cant help but watch with a massive smile on your face, no matter what mood you may have been in that day I defy anyone not to leave in a good mood.

After seeing Zebrahead on the Taste Of Chaos Tour a few years ago I knew they would really get tonight’s crowd going with songs like Anthem the band had everyone jumping and singing along.

Apocalyptica make the most epic of music, creating sounds out of cellos that I have definitely not heard any band classical or rock make before, they put on an entertaining show made even better for me by the quite nice lighting that was fun to work with. There will be a link to a full review on Clink soon.

Warming up for Apocalyptica at the Wolverhampton Wulfrun were Swedish prog metalers Pain Of Salvation, it was obvious that some members of the crowd were loving every second of there set and while they were new to me they did do a great job of putting people in the right mood for Apocalyptica. More in the Review that will be linked to Clink soon.

After listening to All Killer No Filler like mad as a kid and never seeing the band live I was really looking forward to seeing songs like Fat Lip performed live. After shooting the guys at a signing session earlier in the day I was quite excited by the time they took to he stage and I wasn’t disappointed, playing classics and new songs side by side the guys put on a pretty sweet show. I’ll be posting a link to the full review on Clink soon so go check that out once I’ve put the link up.

Jim Lindberg formally of Pennywise’s new band the Black Pacific did a great job of warming up the crowd before Sum 41 took to the stage. Encouraging the crowd to get involved they could be a great band to watch develop from this early stage where they are already winning new crowds round.

The second band on the Eastpak Antidote tour to hit Birmingham was Indie punk band the Riverboat Gamblers. Sounding a bit like the Hives vocalist Mike Weibe spent he time between his shouty vocals swinging his mic and dancing as he charismatically brought all eyes to the stage for the full review their will soon be a link to the review on Clink.
